Artist Statement
I utilize Dadaist methodology to generate visual noise, from which I develop vibrant, colorful monster designs, juxtaposing vastly different shapes and forms into semi-coherent chimerical creatures. When I paint these creatures, I am empowered to warp, melt, and distort the physical world I see around myself.
I am passionate about not interpreting my work for the viewer. I do not answer the question, "What is it?" as it is for the viewer to determine what they see as they engage with the image. Everyone comes from a different background which informs what they see when they look at my work, and it is very important to not jeopardize or influence their own interpretation. The viewer must determine what the image is and where it is set – outer space, underground, deep ocean, inside the confines of my skull, everywhere, nowhere.
